The International Scientific and Practical Conference "Environmental Aspects of Implementing Innovative Technologies in the Development of Hydrocarbon Deposits" (TESC), aimed at reducing emissions into the environment during the development of hydrocarbons and the energy transition, started in the capital of Turkmenistan on June 5. The event brought together representatives of Turkmen government organizations, major energy companies, international organizations and academic communities.
The conference is held in the format of two specialized sessions. The first session is devoted to energy prospects, new technologies and environmental aspects in the development of hydrocarbon resources. Keynote speeches are given by high-ranking representatives of the industry, including Maksat Babayev, State Minister and Chairman of the State Concern "Turkmengas", as well as the heads of Eni, PETRONAS, GaffneyCline and other international energy corporations.
The second session focuses on human capital as a driver of environmental responsibility, with a particular focus on addressing methane and CO2 emissions. Key topics include strategies to reduce methane leaks in hydrocarbon production, with a focus on the Darvaza gas crater, carbon reduction technologies, and building a sustainable safety culture.
Ashgabat actively promotes international environmental initiatives, including the proposal to open a Regional Climate Technology Center in Central Asia, the development of the UN Water Strategy and the UN Special Program for the Aral Sea, as well as the preservation of the Caspian Sea ecosystems.
Meetings between the heads of national oil and gas companies and top managers of large international organizations are planned on the sidelines of the event.
The organizers of the upcoming forum are the Turkmen State Concerns “Turkmengas”, “Turkmennebit” and the State Corporation “Turkmengeology” in partnership with the “Turkmen Energy Forum” Economic Society with the support of S&P Global Commodity Insights (Platts) and the British company GaffneyCline.
